Bethechurch friends, below is one of the best videos I have seen in a long time. After watching this, go listen to Chad's sermon from last Sunday (James 1:2-18) if you have not already.

This is one of the most powerful videos I've seen in a long time. Mostly because what Piper says is full of truth. My heart aches for those who blindly fall into communities where this "gospel" is taught. Still more it cries out for those who have followed Jesus for decades and still choose to follow this teaching.
The difficult aspect of this "gospel" is that there is just enough actual truth to make it sound right - especially for those who are not well read in the Bible or come from strong teaching backgrounds. Still more, the use of the same terminology makes it inviting. However, the definitions are different. It sounds great to those in misery. It makes it sounds as if you can do something to further your standing with Christ. It gives you tangible results for a close relationship with Christ.
The hardest thing about walking away from a message like this, especially in our trinkett filled world, is knowing that you are not guaranteed anything but an eternity with Jesus. But that is pretty awesome in itself. Hebrews says that we should be looking toward our future home, not looking back. This message is all about looking to the land from which we came.
I have read some great books on this "gospel" and suggest that others do so as well. I know for myself, it is hard to separate the fine hairs that entwine each other - between truth and psuedo truth. In doing some research it has better enabled me to see God's truth. It is also incredibly interesting where the origins of this gospel came from.
