As a fellowship we do not own any property or building, therefore we have sort of a "mobile" church, with a mobile office and many different meeting places for events, leadership meetings, etc. However, we do have a regular place of gathering for worship on Sundays. In August of 2006 we began meeting at the Meigs Middle School in Pomeroy.

Our worship gatherings always include the following elements, which we believe are vitally important for the church to participate in together:

  • Worship & Praise (primarily through music and songs that are biblically rooted and culturally relevant)
  • Communion (The Lord's Supper)
  • Teaching & Preaching of the Scriptures
  • Prayer & Edification

Other things that you will notice about the Oasis gatherings is that we always have great fellowship before, after, and during the service. We always have plenty of great coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and breakfast items.

Children at the Gathering
We always have many children of various ages who attend our gatherings. Our goal is that they would be welcomed by all during our worship and praise time and that we would all participate together in praise as families, and one big family of God.

During the teaching and preaching we direct the children to two different areas (this is always the parents' final decision whether or not to keep the children in the main gathering or send them to the children's classes):

  • Nursery (birth to pre-school) is in the 6th Grade teacher's lounge
  • Kindergarten to 3rd grade is in the gymnasium
  • 4th and 5th grade is in the gymnasium

As mentioned above, our goal for all parents is that they would determine to have their children stay with them during the gathering as soon as they feel their child is mature enough to participate without being distracting to others. This decision is left up to parents. For more detailed words on our philosophy of children and youth ministries, see the Oasis Youth page.

House Churches

At Oasis we value simplicity when it comes to being the church. We believe that the simplest way of understanding the "church" is as "family". After all, the Bible does tell us that God has adopted us as sons and daughters into His family, and He is our Father. What this means for us is that, as the church, we ought to function much like a good family does. This is one of the reasons why we emphasize the smaller gatherings called "house church". In the house church meetings we eat a meal together, have good conversation, study the Bible and have prayer. The basic structure is a structure of informality. All ages are welcome. After all, it is a family atmosphere. Below is a listing of our current house church meetings and how to get in touch with the leadership of the house church.
